Iron Gall ink is probably THE MOST important ink in the western world. It gives superb hairlines and dries to a velvety blue-black.

It appears grey at first but darkens to a velvety blue black on exposure to light and air
 
The ink is quite thin, slightly gritty but flows well and produces exquisitely fine hairlines.
 
Best for: Ornamental penmanship, Spencerian script, work on parchemnt
